HCPS Graduates 13 Teachers Ready to Support 21st Century Learners!
The Intel Teach® program is an internationally known course for preparing teachers to support learners with 21st Century skills and technology integration. This program has been a part of the HCPS technology integration initiative since 2002, graduating over 300 teachers. The course, which is a research-based, high quality staff development, has had some significant changes in its newest curriculum. The course is now delivered in an online format via the HCPS Moodle, enabling the kind of communication and 21st Century collaboration students are using more and more. Participants completed this 6.0 CEU course with several face-to-face classes and many hours online navigating through activities in the course Moodle. Teachers also utilized web 2.0 tools such as wikis and blogs to expand their
experience with newer collaboration tools for use in education.
Thirteen participants were part of a unit showcase on May 5th, celebrating their accomplishments. There were a variety of units presented including: Cuban Music, Earthworms, Composting, Celebrating our Heritage, Career Exploration, Spanish 1 and Elementary Spanish, Excel and Music, Heroes, Lost Colony, Special Interest Art, Magnets, and Math Jeopardy! Participants shared their unit ideas, formative and summative assessments, presentations, essential questions, and use of 21st Century Skills. We are so proud of the efforts of these 13 adventurous participants who took on the challenge of growing their own 21st Century Skills! CONGRATULATIONS!
